Kevin believes in applying his personal business background and track record of assisting in-house and in private practice to ensure delivery of pragmatic advice to a broad range of corporate and individual clients.
Kevin has a proven ability to work in multiple jurisdictions, Canada, U.K, and France and passed his Master’s Degree in French, thereby enabling connection with French speaking clients as part of his armoury of skills.
Kevin can handle complex finance based transactions on the borrower or lender side which is an essential element of being able to negotiate transactions and related documents successfully.
Kevin’s spectrum of finance experience spans all major industries including shipping, corporate, banking, petroleum, aviation and private equity.
Sharp and Shrewd Grounded Finance Lawyer
Kevin’s CV demonstrates that he has learned the ropes from an early stage of his career to date. He started off as the youngest Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration plan arbitrator at 27 years old, worked as a Canadian Federal Prosecutor, and then in his corporate track became a finance ‘associate’ at Norton Rose in Paris. He also has a first year doctorate and Masters degree in French and European law of Business and Economics at the University Paris 1 (Pantheon – Sorbonne), moving on through the ranks of private practice, continually sharpening his finance skills throughout.
Private Practice Finance to In-House Securitisation Team
Kevin made a bold move to DVB Bang SE’s London Office and immediately took on responsibility for developing securitisation architecture for the shipping division. He also broadened his responsibilities to extend to all aspects of the Shipping Division work as well as providing legal services to the Aviation and Rail groups.
Promoted to Head of Legal – Shipping Division
Kevin was promoted within DVB Bank and became responsible for the shipping division in all international offices, a position which he held for 5 years.
During that time, Kevin dealt with high value assets including trusts of 2.5 Billions USD, warehousing structure architecture, corporate governance, private equity transactions including debt leverage and reverse equity structures.
Kevin was responsible not only for compliance, but also was a member of the Credit Committee of the bank, risk management committees, audit committee and special credits committee for distressed and repossessed assets.
Kevin can get his teeth into the detail of complex banking and securitisation transactions, taking into consideration matters such as LIBOR policy, market disruption, loan technology and re-defining costs of funds lending.
Additional Skills to the Table
Kevin joined Hughes Krupica’s Bangkok office specifically to head up and develop Finance as a practice of the firm, based on his skillset and expertise.
However, Kevin is also, due to his seniority and past private practice and in-house experience, a diverse and dynamic lawyer able to be involved in each of the firm’s practice areas, drawing upon the resources of our Thai legal team to support him.
Kevin’s passion is spending time with his family. Barbecues, beaches and festivals he enjoys watching his kids grow up. Kevin plays golf and squash when possible and enjoys reading international thriller novels.
