Hughes Krupica has commenced 2020 with a new local community CSR/ESG initiative, located within Phuket Province, Thailand. The purpose of this initiative is not to virtue signal or to tick a box that our company is doing the minimum. Instead, the purpose included ensuring that our staff can spend 12 days or thereabouts per year of work time, helping others and using our firm’s resource for something other than making a pure profit. Each of the projects we assist with we vet to ensure we are not making more work for the recipients than they receive from us, and we are not only involving ourselves in projects and activities that solely require cash, but where effort and participation is also required. As life changes, we all evolve and as our firm evolves, the purpose of doing business and why we work becomes a deeper philosophical question, for those that have the luxury of not having to work simply to be able to live in poverty or above the poverty line. We will share our CSR/ESG activities, simply to hope that anyone thinking about using their company resource may also follow suit – and can see how rewarding the process can be for all involved.
The first activity of the year was at the Kathu Special Education Centre on 14th February 2020.
