Desmond Hughes recently had his article published in Window on Phuket on the value of vetting commercial contracts in general, in the context of the enforcement options and judicial system of Thailand, to deal with the oft used expression ‘it will take 5 years to settle this case in Thailand, including appeals’ which is a major deterrent to many parties taking contracts seriously, expending monies on ensuring a contract is written properly, honouring obligations in a contract, or bothering to try to seek early settlement on disputes.
